The Eagles tame the PanthersThe Lewistown Panthers’ wrestlers visited Wingate on Tuesday, January 22. The draw started the evening with the 103 pound class where Justin Giedroc received a forfeit for Bald Eagle. The Panthers won 3 of the next 5 matches, including pins by Matt Snyder and Gage Smith. Dion Holland’s 10- 4 win over the Eagle’s John Decker tied the score up at 15 all. Rusty Fetzer put the Eagles in the lead for good with a 10 -0 win over Kody Hassinger. Colton Spade gave the Panthers their last win of the night with a 6-2 win over Brandon Coakly. The Eagles finished out with Pins by Randy Breon, Quentin Wright, A.J. Robinson and Tim Watson. The Bald Eagles Wrestlers won their match against the Indian Valley Warriors without wining the majority of matches wrestled. The Warriors won 6 of 11 matches but forfeits and pins helped lift the Eagles to the win. The Warriors came out strong. The draw started the match at 119 and had the Eagle''s Coleman Hoffman winning a low scoring affair over Joe Short 2-1. The Warriors then started their 5 win run with pins coming from Chad Frankhouser and Adam Will. Tyler Bedelyon, and Cory Battista added win along with Tye Boyer''s 18-3 win. Battista''s win brought the score to 20 - 3 in favor of the warriors. The Eagle''s Randy Breon swung the momentum back for the team. Breon pinned the Warrior''s Ethan Knepp. Caleb Hoffman received a forfeit do to injury on the Warrior''s side. Quentin Wright came out on fire and pinned the Warriors''s Zack Knepp in 1:08. A.J. Robinson added another pin for the Eagles. Skylar Romig had the last win for the Warriors, pinning Shane Robinson. The heavyweight match was the last match wrestled for the night. Tim Watson, of the Eagles, came up against Nate Smitherman. Watson came out and took Smitherman down. Smitherman managed a reversal and put Watson to his back. While on the line at the edge of the mat, the ref called for injury time, to the dismay of Warriors fans. Watson, not wanting to be in that position again, turned up the heat with two takedowns. Watson then put Smitherman on his back and finished him off early in the second with a fall coming at 3:37. The match finished with forfeit wins at 103 and 112. The Eagles win the Match 45 - 29.
